Our Visitor Centre – at the Maui Production Station
To get up close with the Maui field operation and the story of oil and gas in Taranaki, check out our Visitor Centre located at the Maui Production Station.
Located at Oaonui on Surf Highway 45 about 8 kilometres north of Opunake and 60 kilometres from New Plymouth, the Visitor Centre has an intriguing range of scale models of the Maui field operation.
These include models of the Maui A and Maui B platforms, the Maui Production Station, and the Whaakaropai FPSO. There’s even a scale model of the unique Free Fall lifeboats used on the offshore platforms.
Open seven days a week from 7.30am until 5pm, visitors will also discover floor to ceiling display panels covering how oil and gas are formed and discovered, and the story of how the Maui field was developed.
